Walk a Dog in the Maple Hill Holiday Parade for the SPCA Unit!
Join us on Saturday, November 23rd, for a fun-filled day at the Maple Hill Holiday Parade! We’re looking for 10 enthusiastic volunteers to walk our dog-friendly pups in this exciting event.
Details:
Meet Time: 9:00 AM at the SPCA
Parade Ends: 12:00 PM
We’ll be sending 10 of our amazing dogs to the parade (the dogs going will be our dog and kid friendly dogs that are with us that day - think favorites like Skraps, Buzz, Rooster, Ghost, and Goblin). We cannot promise small, easy dogs to every volunteer- please be prepared to walk at least an orange level dog or let Tricia know in the notes when you sign-up that you will need a green level dog. I will have a list of dogs that can go, so volunteers can pick who they are comfortable walking from the list. Most of the dogs will be adults, but some leashed puppies who are ready to walk may join too (we won't be bringing the little ones since carrying them for the length of the parade can be quite the workout!).
Please note- Volunteers will be responsible for transporting their SPCA dog to and from the parade.
As a volunteer, you’ll also be walking alongside our funanimals balloon (WMU volunteers will carry it for us), adding a festive touch to the parade.
Dress warmly, and feel free to get creative with your outfit—festive themes that match the balloons are encouraged! We’ll be dressing some of the dogs in fun costumes to match - if we can't find enough on-theme costumes they will wear their holiday sweaters.
This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our dogs to a crowd of about 30,000 people, helping them gain much-needed exposure.
Please note that this activity is extremely popular, and spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you’re interested in volunteering, sign-up now! Kids welcome- They do not need their own slot as they will be walking with their guardian.
Thank you for helping us make this event a success!
