Adoption Counselors are the exceptional volunteers that help the SPCA in the office.
While, as the name implies, they help to adopt out the SPCA dogs and cats, Adoption Counselors do so much more to benefit the SPCA.
Adoption Counselors act as the volunteer support staff for the office.
Some of their important duties include:
Greeting The Public
Answering Phones
Sorting Through and Putting Away Donated Items
Making Up Dog and Cat Goodie Bags
Checking In On SPCA Animals After They Have Been Adopted Through Phone Calls
And Of course,
Adopting Out The Dogs And Cats At The SPCA.
Adoption Counselor Schedule
- Daily Adoption Counseling - This is an open-ended sign-up for our counselors to come on in and help out daily!
- Specific Timeframes - Some days/timeframes we need extra help- we will list these times separately from the daily counseling.
- Friday Evenings- This is a big time for adoptions and we always need a counselor.
- Saturdays- 2 slots- Saturdays are our busiest days for the public to come in and a counselor is always needed.
Training is 45 minutes in the office with the SPCA's Volunteer Coordinator.
The cost is free.
After training, New Adoption Counselors can shadow staff and other Adoption Counselors until they are comfortable working on their own.
